OTTO,
located at 409 Warren Street in Hudson NY, specializes in handmade
Turkish imports for the home. Russell Hatch is the owner of the
new store.
“I’ve always appreciated the beauty
and vibrant colors of traditional Turkish ceramics”, says
Hatch. “On my last trip to Turkey, though, I was captivated
also by the novel art glass objects that were sold in several shops
around Istanbul.”
Hatch’s partner, Michael Morrissey, is the developer and manager
of OTTO. Morrissey thought a collection of Turkish handmade goods
would be a unique addition to the Hudson retail environment. Morrissey
has traveled to Turkey for many years, and chose all of the merchandise
for the store, “When I have decorated my own homes, I’ve
often gravitated toward Turkish designs”, says Morrissey,
“Turkish wares have a classic beauty that can fit into any
period décor from the most modern urban loft spaces to classic
country houses.”
OTTO features both traditional and modern Turkish
wares. Some traditional items include hand-painted ceramics, woven
throws, and kilim pillows. OTTO also features handblown and painted
glass objects that reflect a more contemporary style, as well as
some novelty items, including evil eyes and period movie posters.
